The Legislative Management Team (LMT) of the NJAHU is active in influencing healthcare and health insurance regulations in New Jersey and around the country. The goals of the LMT include educating our elected officials in Trenton and Washington about the professional value that Health Insurance Brokers and Carriers bring to the small business owner and individual consumer dealing with the complexities of healthcare and health insurance.
The LMT is “taking our seat at the table” in the ongoing discussions, meetings and debates in the halls of both Capitals. We have expressed our positions on many issues including the SCHIP program, additional mandates and the formation of a Health Insurance Exchange in New Jersey. You can read the introduced pieces of legislation and their status in the “Position Papers” section of these legislative pages.

We keep our members updated on important meetings, political fundraisers and industry related events around the state.
Our Political Action Committee (Health Insurance Agents Political Action Committee) makes contributions to various legislators influential in the healthcare arena. This is your very own PAC and we need you to lend your financial support to the organization by donating annually. For more details and the HIAPAC Donor form, please click here. We have funds which can be used for you to attend fundraisers for the legislators who represent you. Please attend these fundraisers and speak to your legislator about the important issues affecting health insurance brokers and their clients. Contact info@njahu.org to learn more.
We need your help in all of these endeavors so that we can be an effective, viable voice in this ongoing discussion concerning our industry and our livelihood.
Many of your peers attended NAHU Capitol Conference in Washington DC. Please contact your chapter president to ask about attending this exciting and important event. Capitol Conference 2011 will be held from February 14-16.

His words are as true today as they were back then. This issue is alive and gaining momentum in the U.S. and unless we all pay attention and participate, we may all be waiting in line for care, and a new career.
